Jared Jones to Have Season-Ending Elbow Surgery
Jared Jones (elbow) will have season-ending surgery on his right elbow on Wednesday, according to senior director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk. No specific details were available on the specific nature of Jones' surgery, but he'll miss the rest of the 2025 season and most likely at least half of the 2026 season as well. An internal-brace procedure would give the 23-year-old a chance at a speedier recovery, but even then, Jones probably won't be ready for the start of next year after a long recovery. Jones' short- and long-term fantasy stock definitely take a hit with this news, and fantasy managers in single-year leagues can safely drop him now. This injury makes it much more likely that we'll see Bubba Chandler, Pittsburgh's top pitching prospect, sooner than later in 2025. UPDATE: Jones is projected to return to full competition in 10 to 12 months after having his UCL repaired on Wednesday.
