Jaguars Finalizing Deal With Urban Meyer For Head-Coaching Job
4 years agoThe Jacksonville Jaguars are working toward finalizing a deal with former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer to be their next head coach on Thursday, and the two sides are in advanced talks, according to league sources. The 56-year-old is poised to come out of retirement and the college football broadcast booth to take his first NFL job, bringing a 187-32 collegiate record in his time with Ohio State, Florida, Utah and Bowling Green. Meyer won three national titles (two with Florida and one with Ohio State). He owns a 12-3 record in bowl games, including a perfect 3-0 mark in national championship games. The Jaguars own the No. 1 overall pick in April and could take Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence or Ohio State QB Justin Fields with the first overall selection.
