Israel Abanikanda Could Make Immediate Impact
2 years agoNew York Jets running back Israel Abanikanda was selected in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft but despite the mediocre draft capital, he could make an early impact as a rookie. According to Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic, he could be a part of the running back rotation right away, and could even challenge to start if Breece Hall (torn ACL) misses any time in the early portion of the season. The 216-pound back out of Pittsburgh posted a 4.45 40-yard dash and flashed on long runs throughout his collegiate career, but his lateral quickness and lack of tackle-breaking skills tanked his draft stock. He projects to be a boom-or-bust runner and could be a sneaky best ball league pick.
