Ian Thomas Agrees To Take Pay Cut
2 years agoCarolina Panthers tight end Ian Thomas has agreed to take a pay cut, reducing his base pay to $3 million in 2023 and $3.65 million in 2024. The move creates an extra $2.875 million in salary cap space for this year. The Panthers have already agreed to terms with running back Miles Sanders and tight end Hayden Hurst in free agency this week. The addition of Hurst obviously hurts Thomas' already low fantasy value, and Carolina also has Tommy Tremble in the mix at the position. The 26-year-old had his best year in his rookie season in 2018 with 36 catches for 333 yards and two touchdowns. Thomas hasn't found the end zone in the last two years and had just 21 receptions (30 targets) for 197 yards in 17 starts in 2022.
