Grayson Rodriguez Being Called Up To Start Monday
1 year agoBaltimore Orioles pitching prospect Grayson Rodriguez will be called up from the minor leagues in order to start on Monday against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers. Rodriguez, one of the best young pitching prospects in the game, struggled in his first 10 big-league starts earlier this year to the tune of a 7.35 ERA (5.93 FIP), 1.74 WHIP, 21 walks and 56 strikeouts in 45 1/3 innings pitched, but he's back now and should be scooped up in any fantasy leagues where he's available. In eight starts at Triple-A Norfolk, the 23-year-old right-hander posted a 1.96 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 19 walks and 56 K's in 41 1/3 innings. The matchup against the Dodgers is a tough one, but Rodriguez should stick around in Baltimore's starting rotation, and he has loads of upside for fantasy managers. Manager Brandon Hyde said he's "very pleased" with the improvements Rodriguez made at Norfolk and that "hopefully he sticks in the rotation the rest of the summer."
