Gleyber Torres Out Against Mets
6 months agoNew York Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torres will take a seat on the bench for Wednesday's contest against the crosstown-rival New York Mets. Torres will retreat to the bench for the Yankees amidst his current slump at the plate. The 27-year-old Venezuelan infielder has just two hits in his last 29 at-bats (.069) with a homer, double, four RBI, four walks and seven strikeouts in his last nine games to drop his season line to .215/.294/.333 with seven home runs, 29 RBI, four stolen bases and 36 runs scored in 288 at-bats. It's been an especially disappointing campaign for his fantasy managers after he hit .273 last year with 25 home runs, 68 RBI and 13 steals in 158 games. Oswaldo Cabrera is handling the keystone on Wednesday and will hit in the nine-hole for the Yankees against Mets left-hander Sean Manaea.
