German Marquez Struggles With Control In Wednesday's Loss
German Marquez took the loss on Wednesday vs. the Giants when he surrendered four runs on four hits with three walks and five strikeouts in a 7-3 defeat. All the damage against Marquez came in the second inning when he worked himself into a bases-loaded jam. He proceeded to walk in two straight runs before Brandon Belt poked a two-run RBI single to hang a four-spot in the frame. The 26-year-old only lasted four innings, firing 89 pitches, 54 of which were strikes. He now owns a 4.13 ERA, 1.47 WHIP, and 33:19 K/BB ratio over 32 2/3 innings (six starts) this season. He didn't pitch well on Wednesday but he threw four straight quality starts prior to this outing. He gets the Giants again in a rematch at home in his next turn.
