German Marquez Knocked Around By Atlanta
6 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher German Marquez was hit hard by the Braves on Tuesday as he took the loss at home. Marquez surrendered five earned runs in five innings pitched while allowing seven hits, two of which left the yard. Marquez didn't walk any batters, but he only struck out two along the way. Marquez signed his big deal and is paraded by the front office as the ace of the Rockies staff, but he's still not a true fantasy ace yet. Owners should still view starts in Colorado as risky ones to some extent. Marquez overcame that issue in the second half of last season and dominated at home, but even with that half season of dominance, his career ERA is over one run higher at home than on the road. He'll get to face the friendly Giants lineup in San Francisco next week, so that should help him get back on track.
