Garrett Whitlock Looks Good In Rehab Game
2 years agoBoston Red Sox right-hander Garrett Whitlock (hip) allowed one run on one hit while walking one and striking out eight in six innings in a minor-league rehab start for Double-A Portland on Thursday night. Whitlock is expected to be activated from the injured list in order to make his 2023 season debut on Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Rays. The 26-year-old was delayed this spring after having surgery on his hip last September, but he's looked good in his rehab outings and appears to be ready to pitch for the Red Sox next. There's a good chance he'll be on a strict pitch count on Tuesday against a tough opponent, so fantasy managers may want to hold off on streaming him. Whitlock is only rostered in 32% of Yahoo leagues and could serve as nice rotation depth in 2023, albeit likely with a restricted workload.
