Gabriel Vilardi Has Two Goals in Losing Effort
Winnipeg Jets forward Gabriel Vilardi scored two goals in Friday's 4-3 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes. Vilardi's power-play goal in the first period put Winnipeg 2-1 up, but the Jets couldn't handle the Hurricanes on home ice. Early in the third period, Vilardi potted the game's final goal. Vilardi is an attractive fantasy piece as Kyle Connor's and Mark Scheifele's companion on the first line and the top power-play unit. However, he has had a limited impact in recent weeks, finishing scoreless in six of his last eight appearances. Before the slump, Vilardi was performing very well, providing hope for fantasy managers that he could soon regain his scoring touch. For the season, Vilardi has amassed 16 points (eight goals, eight assists) in 20 games.
