Frankie Montas Expects To Pitch This Year
2 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Frankie Montas (shoulder) said that he "for sure" expects to pitch for the team in 2023. He doesn't have a target date set yet, and he will resume playing catch in around nine to 10 weeks after having right shoulder surgery on Feb. 21. Perhaps the 29-year-old right-hander will be able to help the Yankees down the stretch, but there's little chance that he'll do much for fantasy managers in 2023. Montas admitted he wasn't 100 percent healthy after the Yankees acquired him from the Oakland Athletics at last year's trade deadline. In his eight starts for the Yankees in the second half, he had a 6.35 ERA (4.93 FIP), 1.54 WHIP, 15 walks and 33 strikeouts in 39 2/3 frames.
