Frank Ragnow Receives Record Extension
4 years agoThe Detroit Lions signed center Frank Ragnow to a four-year contract extension on Thursday that will make him the highest-paid center in the NFL. The deal is worth $13.5 million per season, and he'll also receive $25.5 million fully guaranteed at signing and $42 million in total guarantees. Ragnow is under contract through the 2026 season at around $70 million in total. Along with the 2018 first-rounder, Detroit added Penei Sewell at No. 7 overall last week, which gives the Lions three first-rounders on their offensive line (Taylor Decker being the other). The soon-to-be 25-year-old mauls defensive linemen and is excellent in pass protection, which will make quarterback Jared Goff's job easier in his first season in Detroit. Pro Football Focus graded Ragnow as the second-rated center in the league last year.
