Felix Hernandez Has 2.90 Career ERA Against Padres
6 years agoSeattle Mariners starter Felix Hernandez will take the ball as the Mariners travel to San Diego for an August interleague series Tuesday night. This will be his second start since being demoted to the bullpen and Hernandez will carry an 8-11 record with a 5.67 ERA into the game. The former ace has enjoyed plenty of success in San Diego over his career, posting a 6-3 record with a 2.90 ERA in 12 career starts against the Padres. It has been a disastrous second half for Hernandez, who is 0-4 with a 7.42 ERA and a 1.58 WHIP since the All-Star break. He has allowed 22 home runs in only 135 2/3 innings this season and opponents are hitting .317 against him when he is behind in the count. An anemic Padres offense, however, presents a favorable matchup for the veteran and is a solid candidate for a quality start Tuesday night.
