Pittsburgh Pirates closer Felipe Vazquez (forearm) returned to action in a non-save situation on Tuesday, firing a perfect ninth inning. Vazquez left Sunday's game with left forearm discomfort after feeling his elbow "pop," but the issue wasn't deemed serious. The southpaw got three straight groundouts from Cubs hitters, a nice return to form after blowing three consecutive saves. Vazquez has been mostly steady so far in 2018 (3.38 ERA), but he still hasn't recaptured his 2017 form. His diminished strikeout rate and velocity along with an elevated walk rate leaves some cause for concern, but he has little competition for his job.--Matt WilkesRead More News
