Eugenio Suarez Taking One-Handed Swings
5 years agoCincinnati Reds third baseman Eugenio Suarez (shoulder), who is recovering from shoulder surgery, took one-handed swings in the batting cage and is doing some non-throwing defensive work on Sunday. It's a good sign, but at this point Suarez is a real question mark to be ready by Opening Day, and he must resume regular swinging and throwing before he has a chance to be ready for the regular season. The 28-year-old Venezuelan hit .271 with a .930 OPS, career-high 49 home runs and 103 RBI in 159 games last year. Even if he misses the start to the season, Suarez isn't a bad third base target after the elite names come off the board. He could be even more productive in an improved Reds lineup as well.
