The Milwaukee Brewers selected Coastal Carolina shortstop Eric Brown Jr. with the 27th overall pick of the 2022 MLB draft on Sunday. Brown wasn't projected to come off the board in the first round, but here he is. He has an unusual pre-swing setup at the plate, but it doesn't take anything away from his hand-eye coordination, as he's able to barrel up baseballs consistently. The 21-year-old is mature, has a high baseball IQ and could become a 15- to 20-homer player once he reaches the Show. Brown also has quick enough hands and feet to stick at the position. He was one of the best defensive shortstops in college coming into this draft. He finishes his final season at Coastal Carolina with a .330/.460/.544 slash line with seven home runs and 12 steals in 265 plate appearances.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
