Emmanuel Clase Escapes With 12th Save Of Season Tuesday
3 years agoCleveland Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase was able to pick up his 12th save of the season in Tuesday's 4-3 extra-innings win over the Rockies. Clase came in to pitch the 10th inning with a one-run lead and a ghost runner on second. The first hitter reached on a fielding error, allowing the ghost runner to advance to third. The Guardians then got the first out at home on a fielder's choice, preventing the tying run but allowing runners to reach first and second. Clase then induced a game-ending double play. The 24-year-old has been as solid as fantasy managers had hoped for this season, compiling a 1.78 ERA with 29 strikeouts and four walks over 25 1/3 innings pitched. He should be in fantasy managers' lineups at all times.
