Emari Demercado 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook: Competition For Snaps Intensifies
6 months agoIn 2023, Arizona Cardinals running back Emari Demercado had a relatively successful rookie season. The 5-foot-9, 215-pound TCU product handled 58 carries for 284 yards and two touchdowns alongside 21 receptions on 30 targets for 119 yards receiving. Those 403 all-purpose yards ranked third among all undrafted rookie running backs, just behind Denver's Jaleel McLaughlin and Baltimore's Keaton Mitchell. When starting running back James Conner missed time in October, Demercado did a decent job as Arizona's feature back, becoming a useful waiver-wire pickup for fantasy managers. However, when Conner returned, Demercado's snap count fell behind that of mid-season acquisition Michael Carter. In 2024 behind Conner, Demercado's playing time figures to be tougher to come by after Arizona made Florida State's Trey Benson the second running back off the board in this year's draft. Demercado must also fend off former Seattle Seahawk DeeJay Dallas, practice-squad shuttler Tony Jones, Jr., and Carter. In Demercado's best-case 2024 scenario, he becomes the Cardinals' main passing-down back or the last man standing in an injury apocalypse. For now, though, he should go undrafted in virtually all fantasy leagues.
