Edmundo Sosa Exits with Back Contusion
Edmundo Sosa left the team's 9-4 win over the New York Yankees on Saturday with a back contusion, Charlotte Varnes of The Athletic reports. Sosa suffered the injury when he collided with center fielder Brandon Marsh on a seventh-inning catch. The 29-year-old went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI before the Phillies replaced him at third base with Otto Kemp. Sosa has hit a decent .270/.314/.419 with four home runs, 25 RBI, and 17 runs scored in 161 plate appearances. If he has to miss time, it could increase the Phillies' urgency to acquire infield help before the July 31 trade deadline. They're already without starting third baseman Alec Bohm, who went on the 10-day injured list on July 12 with a fractured rib.
