The Houston Astros drafted Tennessee outfielder Drew Gilbert with the 28th overall pick of the 2022 MLB draft on Sunday. Gilbert was the cleanup hitter for the best college baseball team in the country this year and has some of the best bat-to-ball skills in this year's college class. His swing can get a bit too big at times, but he still has 15- to 20-homer power easily. The energetic sparkplug is aggressive on the base paths and while playing defense in center field. The 21-year-old is expected to stick in center field in the long term despite showing a fastball that has touched 93 mph in a relief role. Gilbert led the Volunteers this year by hitting .362/.455/.673 with 11 home runs in 58 games as a junior. He lacks size (5-foot-9), but he makes up for it with strength in his stocky frame.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
