Drew Brees Unlikely To Play In Week 14
4 years agoNew Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees (lung, ribs) is progressing nicely in his rehab from a punctured lung and fractured ribs, but he won't practice much, if at all, on Wednesday, according to sources. Brees is eligible to come off the Injured Reserve and the Saints could ramp him up on Thursday to see how he feels, but a more realistic target date has been Week 15 against the Chiefs. The Saints certainly want the No. 1 seed in the NFC for a first-round bye, but they don't want to rush the 41-year-old back into action too soon. Plus, Taysom Hill has been effective as both a passer and runner under center in place of Brees in the three games that he's started. Hill hasn't looked excellent throwing the ball, but he should be able to get it done against a struggling Eagles Defense. His legs give him plenty of upside as a low-end QB1 for at least another week.
