Drew Brees Likely To Retire After Season
4 years agoNew Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is expected to retire after the season, according to people close to him. Brees hasn't officially announced his decision, but it sounds as though this will be his last season. If he does decide to hang up his cleats, he has a contract with NBC waiting for him. If the 2020 season was indeed the 41-year-old's last, he'd finish his Hall of Fame career with 80,358 career passing yards on 10,551 attempts for 571 touchdowns and 243 interceptions in 287 regular season games with the Chargers and Saints. Brees has made the Pro Bowl 13 times in his 20 seasons, including a run of seven straight selections with the Saints from 2008 to 2014. He's led the NFL in passing yards seven times, had the highest completion percentage six times and has led the league in completions six different times. Brees will be a no-doubt first-ballot Hall of Famer and will be hoping his career doesn't come to an end in the wild-card game against the Bears on Sunday. The veteran signal-caller will be a midrange fantasy QB with running back Alvin Kamara and wide receiver Michael Thomas (ankle) back in the fold against Chicago.
