St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Dexter Fowler was placed on the injured list prior to Wednesday’s contest against Cincinnati due to concerns about possible exposure to COVID-19. Fowler is taking a medication that could potentially compromise his immune system, with his placement on the IL serving as a precautionary measure. Lane Thomas and Dylan Carlson figure to be the two biggest beneficiaries of Fowler’s absence in the short term, although the Cardinals’ plethora of outfielders makes rostering any a difficult proposition. Expected to miss multiple weeks, Fowler can safely be left on the waiver wire in most leagues.--Jesse Borek
