David Johnson, Texans Ground Game Has Been Bad
3 years agoThe Houston Texans running game was the worst in the NFL last year, and they have actually regressed in yards per carry (3.16), EPA per carry (minus-0.31) and success rate (24.4%). They also rank last in yards before contact per rush (0.72) and are 28th in yards after contact per rush (2.44) through Week 11. Mark Ingram II has been traded and Phillip Lindsay was released this week. David Johnson and Rex Burkhead are now sharing the backfield touches, but both players might not be back in 2022. As a result, the Texans could give rookie Scottie Phillips some more run once he returns from Injured Reserve to close out the year. Until then, Johnson and Burkhead are both low-upside RB4/flex options in deeper leagues.
