Dalvin Cook 2024 Outlook: Is There Any Gas Left in the Tank?
6 months agoLike a fancy sports car that once had a hefty sticker price, free agent RB Dalvin Cook rushed 67 times for just 214 yards and 0 TDs while splitting time between the New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens last season. Cook was a fantasy football star from 2019-2022 in Minnesota during the years he was healthy, but the drop-off was evident in 2023 as Cook failed to produce in New York while averaging just 3.2 yards per carry and showing a lot less burst. A lot of times when running backs decline, it is a rapid one where they go from starting to out of the league in a little over a season much like the career trajectories of Melvin Gordon and Leonard Fournette.
However, Cook recently inked a one-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys to compete with the likes of Ezekiel Elliott, Rico Dowdle, and Deuce Vaughn. All reports have been that Cook will initially start on the practice squad with the intent of activating him relatively soon. At this point, he should be rostered in only the deepest of leagues until we see something on the field.
