Colson Montgomery Looks To Shake Off Slow Start
9 months agoChicago White Sox shortstop prospect Colson Montgomery will look to correct his slow start against fellow shortstop prospect Jackson Holliday in Tuesday's Triple-A matchup. Montgomery, 22, is one of the games top prospects and is getting his first taste of Triple-A this season. So far, the shortstop is just 2-for-12 with one walk, one RBI and four strikeouts. It's a very small sample size and Tuesday's contest may be some added motivation against Holliday. In 64 games between Rookie Ball and Double-A in 2023, Montgomery hit .287 with eight homers and 37 RBI. The youngster projects to be a good power hitter with good average at the shortstop position and given the fact that the White Sox have one of the worst rosters in the league, it would be wise for them to allow Montgomery to get a chance in the show at some point this season. He may have more value in dynasty leagues than redraft leagues due to opportunity in 2024, but if called up, managers should snag the left-handed hitter.
