Chris Sale To Throw Bullpen Wednesday
2 years agoBoston Red Sox left-hander Chris Sale (wrist) will throw a bullpen session on Wednesday. Manager Alex Cora is currently undecided on whether the Red Sox will open the 2023 season with a five-man starting rotation. Sale hasn't been healthy in years, and he made only two starts for Boston in 2022 due to a stress reaction in his rib cage and a broken wrist. This spring is the healthiest he's been in a few years, though, so the 33-year-old southpaw will be looking to bounce back for both the BoSox and fantasy managers in 2023. But the seven-time All-Star carries a ton of risk with just 11 starts (48 1/3 innings) since the 2019 season. In the past, he's been one of the best pitchers in baseball when healthy, but fantasy managers just won't know what they're getting in 2023. Sale is a true wild card.
