Chase Elliott must have thought he had a chance. He was right near the front for most of the race. The No. 9 car was third after Stage 1 then second after Stage 2. It looked like things were setting up for a repeat performance. Alas, it was not meant to be for the Hendrick Motorsports Racing Driver. Elliott fell back to fifth in the final laps and wound up nearly four seconds behind Kyle Larson when he crossed the finish line.
