Colorado Rockies center fielder Charlie Blackmon has turned himself into a perennial MVP candidate, but one thing’s missing from his game so far this season: doubles. After back-to-back 35-double seasons, Blackmon seems to have lost his touch for the smallest of extra-base hits. His double Friday night was only his fifth one of the season, putting him on pace for just 20 this year. It appears Blackmon’s converted some of his doubles into homers as he’s on pace for more of those than ever, but the lack of doubles has hurt his slugging percentage, clocking it in at “just” .514 instead of the .552 or .601 numbers he’s posted the last two years. Blackmon should still be in the running for postseason awards this year, but he may not be quite as all-around a player as he has been the last couple of years.--Billy Stonick - RotoBaller
