Chad Bettis Posts Quality Start Against SF
7 years agoColorado Rockies starting pitcher Chad Bettis got back on the horse by posting a quality start against the Giants on Thursday, though he did not factor into the decision. With that said, this was more in line with what owners should expect of Bettis moving forward. While it was a quality start, it was the worst kind, with him allowing three earned runs in six innings of work. Bettis struck out five, but he also walked two and gave up five hits. At best, owners should expect Bettis to be more along the lines of a 4.50 ERA type of pitcher moving forward. His depressed strikeout rate of 5.73 per nine innings and his high walk rate of 3.11 per nine innings means Bettis could easily finish the season with an ERA north of 5.00.
