Carl Edwards Could Help Owners In Need Of Holds In 2018
7 years agoCarl Edwards enters 2018 where he is likely to have a role in the the late-innings for the Chicago Cubs. Edwards was used heavily down the stretch for the Cubs and the talent is there for him to potentially be the long-term closer. In 2017 Edwards worked mostly as a setup man for Wade Davis where he had 94 strikeouts and a 1.01 WHIP in 66 1/3 innings.Entering 2018, Edwards will be a candidate for holds, but unless Brandon Morrow struggles in the closer role, Edwards won’t hold much value in fantasy leagues aside from those that value holds. He is one of the better handcuffs as Brandon Morrow has never been a closer and has a history of injuries, but Steve Cishek is more likely to be the next man up if that should happen due to his previous closer experience.
