Cardinals Sign Brad Miller
5 years agoThe St. Louis Cardinals signed infielder Brad Miller to a one-year major league deal on Wednesday. Relief pitcher Jordan Hicks (shoulder) was placed on the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move. Miller, 30, hit .260/.329/.565 with 13 home runs and 25 RBI in 79 games for the Indians and Phillies as a utility infielder in 2019. He hit .243 with a career-high 30 home runs and 81 RBI in 152 games for the Rays back in 2016 and could be a useful utility infielder at either third or second base, especially if Matt Carpenter's struggles from 2019 bleed into this year. Unless he becomes a regular infielder, though, Miller's fantasy value will likely be limited to NL-only leagues for depth purposes.
