5 months agoCarolina Hurricanes general manager Don Waddell said that the organization had "good talks" with the representation of defenseman Justin Faulk on a contract extension at the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, and the two sides plan to continue talking. "If he stays on for (the) last year of (his) contract we're OK with that," Waddell said, adding that there is no urgency to get a deal done. Faulk is the cornerstone of the defenseman corps along with Dougie Hamilton, and the fan favorite has been with the organization since going No. 37 overall in the second round of the 2010 draft. He has 11 or more goals in four of the past five seasons and is a decent fantasy option in many pools heading into 2019-20, especially if Carolina contends again and his plus/minus rating continues to be improved.--Daniel E.
