Bubba Chandler Strikes Out Eight In Five Shutout Innings On Tuesday
Bubba Chandler threw five scoreless innings on Tuesday, allowing four hits and three walks while striking out eight. It was a good bounce-back outing after allowing three earned runs on five hits and four walks in only 2 2/3 innings his last time out. The performance lowered the 22-year-old's ERA for the season to 1.91 with a 1.00 WHIP and 49 strikeouts over 33 innings pitched. He threw a season-high 86 pitches in the contest, continuing a progression toward a major league workload. The righty began the year as the Pirates' top prospect, and while that is still the case, the former third-round draft pick moved from No.12 overall up to the second-overall prospect in baseball in MLB.com's latest refresh of its Top 100 Prospects list. He remains a top stash candidate in redraft leagues and should make his way to the majors within the next month or so.
