Baker Mayfield To Have Surgery Jan. 19
3 years agoCleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield (shoulder) will have surgery to fix the torn labrum in his left shoulder on Jan. 19 in Los Angeles, according to a source. With Mayfield shutting it down with one game remaining in the regular season and electing to undergo surgery as soon as possible, he will have plenty of time to make a full recovery for what will be his option season in 2022. The 26-year-old tore his labrum all the way back in Week 2 and also dealt with foot and knee injuries along the way. It showed in the numbers, as Mayfield went 253-for-418 (60.5 completion percentage) for a career-low 3,010 passing yards, 17 touchdowns, 13 interceptions and a career-low 35.3 QBR. Even if he's fully healthy going into next season, he won't be anything more than a low-end QB2 for fantasy purposes.
