Auston Matthews Skating, May Return As Early As Saturday
7 years agoToronto Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews has been skating during practice and may be able to return as soon as next Saturday. The second-year forward has been sidelined since Toronto’s Feb. 22 match against the New York Islanders in which he injured his shoulder. The initial prognosis on Matthews’ injury was that he'd miss at least one week of play, however, no official update has been given since he was moved to Toronto’s Injured Reserve list. Maple Leafs head coach Mike Babcock stated that the injury has not kept Matthews from maintaining his speed and agility, meaning that he will most likely be ready to jump back into the Toronto lineup as soon as his shoulder feels ready. Keep an eye open for updates as the week progresses and be ready to activate the 20-year-old once he returns to action. Matthews has 28 goals and 22 assists through 52 games played this season.
