7 years agoToronto Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews (shoulder) is unlikely to play in Toronto’s Saturday match against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The second-year forward participated in team practice while wearing a non-contact jersey on Wednesday, indicating that he is making progress in his recovery. Matthews has not played since Feb. 22, and if he is held out of the lineup Saturday, his next opportunity to start for the Maple Leafs would be on Wednesday when Toronto will host the Dallas Stars. This season, Matthews leads his team in goals (28) as well as plus/minus (plus-23) and is second in points (50) for the Leafs. Be prepared to activate the young star if his status changes as their weekend match draws closer.--Alex McKenzie
