The Pittsburgh Pirates plan to call up outfielder Austin Meadows on Friday, according to The Athletic's Rob Biertempfel. Meadows is the Pirates second-ranked prospect by Baseball America and is hitting .281/.326/.380 with one home run, 15 RBI and eight steals in 131 plate appearances with Triple-A Indianapolis this season. He'll be taking the place of Starling Marte (oblique), who is headed to the 10-day disabled list. While Meadows should get considerable playing time in center field, he likely won't stay in the big leagues for long, as Marte's injury isn't considered serious. The former first-round pick has the talent to be an asset in mixed leagues, but he may be a very short-term commodity for the time being.--Matt Wilkes
