Austin Ekeler Expected To Share Carries
6 years agoLos Angeles Chargers running back Austin Ekeler will be sharing carries once again on Sunday when the team faces the Bengals. Head coach Anthony Lynn told reporters that Ekeler is getting worn down and is too valuable on special teams to overuse on the offense, so he is expected to share carries with rookie Justin Jackson. Lynn even implied that Jackson may see more carries than Ekeler. Ekeler has been phenomenal as a change-of-pace back, but he has struggled mightily when given the primary role. Even with starter Melvin Gordon remaining sidelined with a knee injury, Ekeler should be viewed as an alternate in the LA backfield instead of the main man.
