Antoine Winfield Jr. Out For Buccaneers Defense
4 years agoThere was early optimism that Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie safety Antoine Winfield Jr. (ankle) would play in the NFC Championship against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, but he has been ruled out, according to sources. Winfield suffered an ankle injury in practice late in the week and wasn't able to overcome it. A key playmaker in Tampa's secondary, his absence is a clear downgrade to the Buccaneers Defense as they look to slow down quarterback Aaron Rodgers for the second time this season. Rodgers went just 16-for-35 for 160 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions in the 38-10 loss to the Bucs back in Week 6. It'll be tough for Tampa to hold him down like that again on Sunday, especially with the talented rookie safety not in the fold.
