Angels In Talks To Acquire Alex Cobb From The Orioles
4 years agoThe Los Angeles Angels are in talks to acquire right-hander Alex Cobb from the Orioles on Monday, according to sources. The final details haven't been worked out yet, but Cobb is currently on the last year of his deal and is owed $15 million in 2021. Cobb would give the Halos more rotation depth behind Dylan Bundy, Andrew Heaney, Jose Quintana, Griffin Canning, Jaime Barria and Shohei Ohtani. The 33-year-old went 2-5 with a 4.30 ERA with 38 strikeouts in 52 1/3 innings over 10 starts for the O's last season. He has a 10-team no-trade clause, but it's unclear if the Angels are on it. Cobb has a 5.10 ERA in 41 starts with Baltimore in three seasons and missed most of 2019 with a back strain. The right-hander would be an uninspiring AL-only option if the trade goes through and he earns a rotation spot for the Angels.
