Andrew Miller Hopes For Another Elite Season in Relief
7 years agoCleveland Indians relief pitcher Andrew Miller will go into 2018 looking to keep up his reputation as one of the best relief pitchers in the game. His 2017 season was excellent, as he finished the campaign with a 4-3 record, 27 holds and two saves, and a 1.44 ERA. Miller struck out 13.64 batters per nine innings, his lowest rate since a mediocre-at-best 2012 season (his first as a full-time reliever) with the Boston Red Sox. He also walked 3.02 batters per nine innings in 2017, his highest rate since 2013. Neither number showed an extremely concerning trend in the wrong direction, but they are both certainly rates to keep an eye on. Miller was still elite and will almost certainly continue to be in 2018.
