Alex Verdugo Takes Swings, Does Agility Work
5 years agoBoston Red Sox outfielder Alex Verdugo (back) took 20 swings in the batting cages on Monday and also did some agility work on the field. Verdugo will open the season on the injured list because of a stress fracture in his back, but there's still a chance he'll return in late April. The 23-year-old has a real chance at a breakout season in an everyday role with Boston, but his injury has tempered expectations from fantasy owners and his draft stock has obviously fallen a bit. Verdugo hit .294/.342/.475 with 12 home runs, 44 RBI and four steals in 343 at-bats for the Dodgers last year, but his season was cut short due to injury. He currently has an ADP of 225.2 and should be owned in all mixed leagues.
