Aaron Civale Picks Up First Spring Win On Saturday
9 months agoTampa Bay Rays pitcher Aaron Civale (1-1) allowed one run on three hits while striking out six over six innings in Saturday's 5-2 spring victory over the Atlanta Braves. He picked up his first spring win of the season. It was the 28-year-old's best spring training start, lowering his ERA to 5.25 and 1.08 WHIP over 12 innings. Civale was limited to 122 innings in 2023 due to an oblique strain. He was traded to the Rays for Kyle Manzardo during last year's deadline. Civale posted a 3.46 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and a 116:33 K: BB over 122 1/3 innings between the Guardians and Rays in 2023. ATC projects similar numbers for Civale in 2024, with the right-hander to go (9-8) with a 4.05 ERA and 133 K across 144 innings. With an ADP of 240.7, Civale is likely only to be a depth option in most league formats heading into 2024 drafts.
