MLB Daily Fantasy Baseball Patrol: Pitchers for FanDuel, DraftKings (5/6/16)

By SD Dirk on Flickr [CC BY 2.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/2.0)], via Wikimedia Commons

Max Petrie's top MLB daily fantasy baseball starting pitchers for FanDuel, DraftKings on 5/6/16. Top value and sleeper picks for DFS and seasonal fantasy baseball streamers.

Welcome to another big Friday for MLB DFS events. There is a huge slate of pitching today. How crowded you say? Jordan Zimmermann, owner of a 0.55 ERA, is the 17th option on DraftKings. Noah Syndergaard, Max Scherzer, Madison Bumgarner. All it's missing is Jake Arrieta and Clayton Kershaw. Don't worry though, we got you covered on which to play.

In this article, I’ll be providing you with the top starting pitcher streamers for daily fantasy baseball (DFS) and for seasonal leagues for 5/6/16. These streamers will range from high-priced / high-ownership options to low-priced / low-ownership options, and will be sleepers and value picks for your cash games and GPPs on DraftKings and FanDuel, and also for seasonal leagues with daily lineups.

There'll be three main sections of this article: our Pitcher Matchups Tool’s top plays, my value plays, and pitchers to fade. I highly recommend you check out the Daily Pitcher Matchups Ratings tool - it's an extremely useful tool for daily fantasy or seasonal streaming for finding the diamonds in the rough. Anyways, let's get cracking!

Daily Pitcher Matchup Ratings Tool Top Plays

Madison Bumgarner (SP, SFG) vs Rockies

FanDuel - $11,700 / DraftKings - $10,900

Bumgarner has a 11.57 K/9 through six starts and may get forgotten in this heavy slate considering his price tag. That should result in a lower than normal ownership. He has a 3.21 career ERA versus Colorado.

Rich Hill (SP, OAK) at Orioles

FanDuel - $7,900 / DraftKings - $7,400

Seems a little crazy consider the alternatives today, but that's what makes a tourney sleeper. Hill has reached 57 FanDuel points in three of his five starts, while hitters are batting .185 versus Hill.

Max’s Value Plays of the Day

Noah Syndergaard (SP, NYM) at Padres

FanDuel - $11,200 / DraftKings - $6,900

Sure, this didn't meet the "value" criteria. But Thor has been too good to ignore, especially for cash games. He has a 12.38 K/9 through five starts and the Mets will be looking to even the series tonight. Don't be scared by the last outing Syndergaard had versus San Diego in June (4 IP, 7  ER). Only two Padres (Matt Kemp, Derek Norris) remain from that game.

Jordan Zimmermann (SP, DET) vs Rangers

FanDuel - $10,100 / DraftKings - $8,600

This is more so for DraftKings. That's simply too low for a pitcher as hot as JZimm. He's not striking out a ton of hitters (6.27 K/9) and the Rangers hit right-handers well, which is why I recommend fading on FanDuel. But he's a solid SP2 for DK purposes.

Tim Adleman (SP, CIN) vs Brewers

FanDuel - $5,300 / DraftKings - $4,900

You might be saying "who"? And I can't blame you. I had never seen Adleman pitch before last week but was very impressed with what I saw. Locates the fastball well, excellent curve. There are hitters who cost more than Adleman, but he's the ultimate tourney play if you want to stack the offense.

Starting Pitchers to Fade in Daily Fantasy Baseball

Kenta Maeda (SP, LAD) at Blue Jays

FanDuel - $8,600 / DraftKings - $9,800

Maeda will be pitching on six days rest and the Blue Jays are one of the best home run hitting teams versus righties. Given the tough draw versus Stroman, there are better uses for your funds.

Mat Latos (SP, CWS) vs Twins

FanDuel - $7,700 / DraftKings - $7,300

The 4-0 record and 1.84 ERA look shiny, but Latos has a 4.66 K/9 through five starts and is playing with fire early on. Don't get cute with so many flame throwers on the slate.
