Jerry Jeudy Traded to Browns: Fantasy Football Impact and Analysis

Jerry Jeudy's time in Denver is over, ending a lengthy trade rumor saga.

The former first-round pick will be sporting brown and orange next season as a member of the Cleveland Browns. Jeudy was drafted ahead of CeeDee Lamb and Justin Jefferson in the 2020 NFL Draft and failed to live up to the lofty expectations placed on him in Denver.

Jeudy finished as the WR22 in 2022 but was not even a WR3 in his other three seasons. Will a change of scenery improve his fantasy football stock or is he destined to be a first-round bust?

Jerry Jeudy Trade Details

Given the terms of the proposed trade (it can't be completed until the new league year begins on Wednesday), franchises across the league weren't big fans of Jerry Jeudy's game. The Broncos are receiving a fifth and sixth-round pick for the former 15th-overall selection.

The Browns reportedly had interest in the former Alabama wideout at the trade deadline last season but the proposed deals were never agreed upon.

The Broncos are furiously clearing cap space amid their divorce with Russell Wilson and a full rebuild is underway. The trade clears up $13 million for Denver.

Jerry Jeudy 2024 Fantasy Outlook

From being the second option to the third, Jeudy moves down on the pecking order but will be a member of a superior offense. Amari Cooper will remain the top option for the Browns' passing attack. Tight end David Njoku surged at the end of the 2023 season and is seemingly locked in as the second look. However, his dominant play came with Joe Flacco under center. Deshaun Watson will return to the starting lineup, so we'll get another look at his tendencies and who he favors to target.

Jeudy will compete with Elijah Moore for snaps and targets. Moore was on and off fantasy football rosters throughout the 2023 season. His numbers weren't impressive but he kept getting a look given injuries on the Cleveland roster and the capital (a second-round pick) that the Browns surrendered to acquire him.

In the end, this trade doesn't move the needle much for Jeudy. Many fantasy football managers have soured on his production, never hitting the 1,000-yard receiving mark. With the options ahead of him in Cleveland, it's difficult to envision him hitting that mark in year five.

An interesting note for dynasty managers, Cooper, Moore, and Jeudy are free agents after the 2024 season. If Jeudy shows some juice, he could be called upon to be a key cog of the Cleveland offense moving forward. The wide receiver room could look a lot different when the Browns convene for training camp in 2025.

As for Denver, Marvin Mims Jr. will be given every opportunity to shine. Courtland Sutton appears to be following Jeudy out of Denver, putting Mims and oft-injured Tim Patrick atop the depth chart. Jarrett Stidham is currently the QB1 for the Broncos, however. Whether it's a veteran free agent (again) or a rookie like J.J. McCarthy, the passing game will need some seasoning before becoming reliable for fantasy football.
