ANALYSIS: Green Bay Packers Jayden Reed has flashed immense upside at times during his first two NFL seasons. However, at times, Reed has not seen consistent targets and has seen his fantasy production remain unstable.
In 2024, Reed emerged as an early-season breakout candidate as he totaled 33.1 PPR points in the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles. However, over the next seven games, Reed would only eclipse 20.0 PPR points once and average a modest 11.9 PPR points per game over this stretch. Reed had a limited role to start his rookie season, but he emerged as a go-to option in the passing attack, scoring 20.0 PPR points per game during Weeks 14 through 18.
While Reed appeared poised to take the next step in 2005, he is currently dealing with a Jones fracture in his left foot, which has limited him during the final weeks of training camp. On Wednesday, Reed was held out of practice. However, the wideout has noted he plans to play through the injury.
Fantasy managers should continue to keep a close eye on his status in case he faces a setback leading up to Sunday. Despite the injury, if Reed is cleared to play, he is worth a look in all 12+ team, 3-WR formats as he will face the Detroit Lions in a potential shootout. Given his ability to produce after the catch, Reed will carry high-end WR3 upside despite potentially being limited due to the injury.
However, managers in shallower 10-team leagues should look to keep Reed on their bench for the time being.
