Fantasy Football Injury Reports For NFL RBs: Week 18 Updates for Bucky Irving, Josh Jacobs, Chase Brown, Aaron Jones

Chase Brown - Fantasy Football Rankings, Waiver Wire Pickups, Draft Sleepers

Fantasy football RB injury updates and reports for Week 18 (2024), as of January 4, including Bucky Irving, Josh Jacobs, Chase Brown, and Aaron Jones.

Below is our fantasy football injuries report for running backs in Week 18, as of January 4. The injury statuses for various NFL running backs are up in the air for Week 18, including Bucky Irving, Josh Jacobs, Chase Brown, and Aaron Jones.

As the fantasy football season continues, every decision, transaction, and lineup change matters. These are critical running back injuries to keep track of throughout the week. Being up-to-date on NFL injury news can give you an edge over your league mates in fantasy football.

Let's look at the updates for some running backs and see whether they may play in Week 18.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

Saquon Barkley Injury Update

Barkley (coach's decision) will sit out Week 18 as the Eagles attempt to keep him healthy for the playoffs. Kenneth Gainwell should lead Philadelphia's backfield against the Giants on Sunday.

Bucky Irving Injury Update

Irving (shoulder, shin) was upgraded to a full participant in practice on Friday. He has been removed from the injury report and will play in Week 18. He ranks as a high-end RB1 against the Saints' poor run defense.

Josh Jacobs Injury Update

Jacobs (wrist) upgraded to a limited participant in practice on Friday. He has been removed from the injury report and will play against the Bears in Week 18. However, Jones previously acknowledged that he wouldn't handle a heavy workload in Sunday's regular-season finale. As a result, he drops to the low-end RB1 tier for fantasy purposes.

Kyren Williams Injury Update

Williams (coach's decision) will sit out Week 18 as the Rams hope to keep him healthy for their playoff run. Blake Corum should lead the backfield, while Cody Schrader and Ronnie Rivers also earn meaningful snaps.

Chase Brown Injury Update

Brown (ankle) was unable to practice this week, but the Bengals have left the door open for him to play with a "questionable" designation. Even if active, there's no guarantee that he will handle a full workload against the Steelers. Regardless of Brown's role, we expect Khalil Herbert to get involved out of the backfield.

Alvin Kamara Injury Update

Kamara (groin) is doubtful to play against the Buccaneers after failing to practice this past week. The veteran running back previously expressed a desire to return for one of the Saints' final games, and it would have been neat to see him push for his first career 1,000-yard rushing season.

However, such a feat appears unlikely. Clyde Edwards-Helaire could end up leading New Orleans' backfield with Kendre Miller (concussion) already ruled out for Week 18.

Aaron Jones Injury Update

Jones (quad) has been removed from the injury report after logging a full practice on Friday. He will suit up in Week 18 and should have a large workload as the Vikings compete for the NFC's No. 1 seed. Jones ranks as a low-end RB1 in fantasy football.

Tony Pollard Injury Update

Pollard (ankle) had been limited in practice, but he was downgraded to a non-participant on Friday. As a result, the Titans have officially listed him as questionable. With Pollard's status in doubt and Tyjae Spears (concussion) already ruled out, Tennessee could turn to Julius Chestnut as its primary running back on Sunday in Houston.

Jaylen Warren Injury Update

Warren (ribs) has been cleared to play against the Bengals in Week 18, and we expect him to suit up without any limitations. He out-produced Najee Harris last week and could be headed for a similar role against Cincinnati. Warren ranks as a high-end RB2 in fantasy football this week.

Jerome Ford Injury Update

Ford (ankle) has been placed on injured reserve, which means he won't play in Saturday's regular-season finale. Although Ford was a full participant in practice this week, the Browns are shutting him down, given that this week's contest is meaningful for them.

In fact, a loss would benefit Cleveland since they could technically still earn the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft. D'Onta Foreman is expected to lead the Browns' backfield in Week 18.

Ameer Abdullah Injury Update

Abdullah (foot) has been ruled out for Sunday's season finale against the Chargers. After a dominant three-game stretch, Abdullah has been shut down, ending his age-31 season. Alexander Mattison should lead the Raiders' backfield in Week 18.

Kendre Miller Injury Update

Miller (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 18 against the Buccaneers. Edwards-Helaire is the leading candidate to operate as the Saints' primary running back on Sunday, but we would expect Jamaal Williams and Jordan Mims to also get involved.

Austin Ekeler Injury Update

Ekeler (concussion) was a full participant in practice this week. However, he remains on injured reserve and is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest against the Cowboys. The Commanders would need to activate him by Saturday afternoon in order for him to play in Week 18. If active, he'd likely back up Brian Robinson Jr., ranking as a mid-range RB3/FLEX option in fantasy football.

Isiah Pacheco Injury Update

Pacheco (ribs) has been ruled out for Week 18 against the Broncos. The Chiefs intend to rest their starters in Week 18, and that includes both Pacheco and Kareem Hunt (coach's decision). Carson Steele and Samaje Perine are expected to lead Kansas City's backfield on Sunday.

Tyjae Spears Injury Update

Spears (concussion) has officially been ruled out for Week 18. This update is merely a formality, given that head coach Brian Callahan told the media last Sunday that he wouldn't play against the Texans. Chestnut could be the Titans' primary running back on Sunday if Pollard (ankle) also can't play.

Gus Edwards Injury Update

Edwards (ankle) did not practice this week. As a result, he has been ruled out for Sunday's contest against the Raiders. Kimani Vidal is slated to back up J.K. Dobbins, and he could see increased opportunities if the Chargers limit their starters' touches in Week 18.

Craig Reynolds Injury Update

Reynolds (back) was added to the injury report after missing Friday's practice. He is officially questionable to suit up against the Vikings in Week 18. If he can't play, Jermar Jefferson would likely back up Jahmyr Gibbs with the NFC's No. 1 seed on the line.

Kareem Hunt Injury Update

Hunt (coach's decision) is officially doubtful for Week 18 against the Broncos. The Chiefs intend to rest their starters in Week 18, and that includes both Hunt and Pacheco (ribs). Steele and Perine are expected to lead Kansas City's backfield on Sunday.

Justice Hill Injury Update

Hill (concussion, illness) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Browns. Keaton Mitchell rushed 11 times on Christmas Day and is expected to remain Derrick Henry's backup in Week 18.

Miles Sanders Injury Update

Sanders (ankle) is questionable to play against the Falcons in Week 18. The veteran running back logged a full practice on Friday, but the Panthers would need to activate him from injured reserve on Saturday before he's eligible to suit up in this week's regular-season finale. Assuming he's active, Sanders would be the Panthers' primary running back while Raheem Blackshear and Mike Boone fill depth roles.

Travis Homer Injury Update

Homer (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's game after failing to practice this past week. D'Andre Swift and Herbert remain the Bears' top running backs for Week 18 against the Packers.

Christopher Brooks Injury Update

Brooks (ankle) has been removed from the injury report after logging a full practice on Friday. He will play in Week 18 against the Bears, and he could see increased opportunities with Jacobs not expected to handle a full workload.

Rasheen Ali Injury Update

Ali (hip) has been removed from the injury report after logging back-to-back full practices. He should remain the Ravens' No. 3 running back behind Henry and Mitchell.

Pierre Strong Jr. Injury Update

Strong (concussion) has been placed on injured reserve, which means he won't play in Saturday's regular-season finale. This move is merely a formality, with one game left after Strong didn't practice this week. Foreman is expected to lead the Browns' backfield against the Ravens.

Tyler Badie Injury Update

Badie (back) is questionable to face the Chiefs despite being a full participant in practice this week. The Broncos would need to activate him from injured reserve before he can play on Sunday. It's unclear if Denver will allocate a 53-man roster spot to Badie, given that Javonte Williams, Jaleel McLaughlin, and Audric Estime are all healthy. Even if he does play in Week 18, Badie is off the fantasy radar.

Will Shipley Injury Update

Shipley (concussion) is questionable for Week 18 despite logging two full practices in a row. His practice status suggests that he'll play against the Giants, but we won't get official confirmation until 11:30 a.m. ET on Sunday.
