FanDuel Studs: Our Best DFS Lineup Picks for Fantasy Football

Each week here at RotoBaller, we provide the subscribers of our DFS Lineup Picks of the Week Newsletter with some of the highest quality advice for salary cap fantasy football on FanDuel.  We also have lots of great FanDuel analysis weekly, so be sure to check back.

Why We Love Weekly FanDuel Football

Are you looking for some more fantasy football action, and want to get involved in weekly DFS games on FanDuel and DraftKings? I know I am. Are you one of those people whose fantasy football team is sporting a lackluster record through the first five weeks of the 2014 NFL season? Are you not that happy with the team you drafted this year in fantasy football? Maybe you are a frustrated AP, Mathews, Ball, Gerhart, Megatron, Green or Cruz owner (just to mention a few on the vast list of disappointments). Well we have the perfect remedy for your fantasy football appetite.

The weekly format of FanDuel fantasy football is just what the doctor ordered. Draft a new team each week, and battle it out against your friends or as many opponents as you please on FanDuel or DraftKings. It's my favorite way to supplement my fantasy football teams, and plug-and-play guys that I wish I owned in my leagues on a weekly basis. After all there's nothing like owning Matt Forte or Aaron Rodgers for one week, when you missed out on them in all of your season-long fantasy football leagues.

Looking for An Edge?

If you play salary cap leagues on FanDuel, then our expert picks can give you the edge you need to win. Each week we analyze the player matchups, and the associated pricing on FanDuel, to identify the sleepers and value picks to put together a winning lineup. With each newsletter, you will receive our well-researched weekly picks for each position, with both a “Strong Play” and a “Value Play”, and we will also include two or three budget buster tournament plays for each position. All in all, you will be receiving a minimum of 12 of our expertly hand-picked recommendations for your gaming pleasure!

We’ve reprinted some of RotoBaller’s lineup picks from last week’s subscribers-only exclusive newsletter to give you an idea of the FanDuel analysis that we put forward each and every week. As you can see below, our experts had some sweet recommendations for Week 8 lineups, so hopefully you got in on the action! And if not, no worries, there’s still plenty of time for Week 9 and beyond.

A Recap of Some DFS Lineup Picks from Week 8

QB (Value) - Carson Palmer ($7,400) - He may have been dealing with a weak throwing shoulder and some nerve damage, but now that Carson Palmer is back healthy and starting, there is no question as to his high-upside DFS value for Week 8.

Facing off at home against the defensively challenged Eagles, the former Bengals great gets to work against the NFL's 5th weakest defense against fantasy quarterbacks. Allowing a whopping 20.36 points per contest, the Eagles are grading out as a slightly below average pass coverage unit based on Pro Football Focus. The combination of their high powered offense running up scores, and a bad secondary, leave us pretty confident that the savvy veteran quarterback can capitalize and find some of his fantasy options for a glorious Week 8.

Result: 329 passing yards, 2 TD - BULLSEYE

WR (Strong) - Sammy Watkins ($7,300) - Bypass all the expensive wide receiver options at the top of the list because this superstar-in-the-making is ready to dismantle the Jets pathetic secondary in Week 8.

After a monster breakout showing in Week 7, Sammy "The Bull" Watkins (who looks more like a tight end than a wide receiver) gets the team that allows 24.13 fantasy points to opposing wide receivers on average. Good for 12th worst in the NFL, the Jets pass coverage also grades out as the 7th worst in the league based on Pro Football Focus and does not pass the eyeball test on gamedays.

Ultimately, if you are not spending the big bucks to lock down Jordy NelsonDez Bryant or Antonio Brown in Week 8, we suggest you save over a thousand dollars and get the 4th overall pick in this year's draft into your FanDuel linuep.

Result: 3 receptions, 157 receiving yards, 1 TD - BULLSEYE

WR (Value) - Mohamed Sanu ($7,000) - Have no fear using this undervalued DFS star in Week 8. Regardless of the fact that Mo Sanu will be drawing #1 cornerback coverage versus the Ravens, we are pretty sure that he'll be heavily targeted, and is projected to score quite a few fantasy points. You did see what Golden Tate did last week with Megatron out right?

With A.J. Green almost surely to be sat down again, this breakout star will have the Bengals passing game squarely on his shoulders as he and the Red Rifle try to hook up for some of that magic that made Sanu a must-start fantasy option for the past few weeks.

Although the Ravens are a stout overall defensive unit, their pass coverage is clearly their weak link as they grade out well below average, and 14th worst based on Pro Football Focus. They also are 8th worst in the league versus opposing wide receivers allowing 25.60 fantasy points per contest. You know what to do from here, right?

Result: 5 receptions, 125 receiving yards, 27 rushing yards - BULLSEYE

WR (Budget Buster) - Cordarrelle Patterson ($6,000) - How may of you are seeing this thinking: "Hell no, I wasted a 7th round pick on this guy and he hasn't done a damn thing for me this year!" Well, you can bench him all you want in seasonal formats, but if you want to bust a huge FanDuel tournament, you'll need at least one super undervalued sleeper to hit big.

In Week 8, Cordarrelle Patterson has the best chance of any other underpriced wide receiver because he faces the NFL's worst defense against wide receivers, Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers have allowed a whopping average of 32.56 fantasy points per game to wide receivers and grade out as the 5th worst in the NFL as a pass coverage unit.

If there is any week to reap an enormous return on DFS investment on the Vikings #1 wide receiver, it's Week 8, so figure out a way to get him into your mix and thank us later.

Result: 10 rushing yards, 6 receptions, 86 receiving yards - HIT

RB (Strong) - Lamar Miller ($7, 400) - When most think of a number one running back, few have Lamar Miller at the top of their 2014 list. The thing is the Miami Dolphins stud is averaging 4.8 yards per carry and has been straight up putting in work.

Facing off agains the Jaguars below average 9th worst defense against fantasy running backs, we love Miller's chance of getting close to the 20.94 fantasy points per game that they allow. Feel free to bypass the overpriced obvious plays (DeMarco Murray and Matt Forte) if you want to get a bit more creative with your FanDuel lineup for Week 8.

Result:  78 rushing yards, 3 receptions, 21 receiving yards - HIT

Dwayne Allen - ($6,000) - We're bringing back our favorite new DFS sleeper tight end for Week 8 as the Colts get set to travel to Pittsburgh to battle the Steelers 9th worst defense against the tight end. While they allow 9.84 fantasy points per game to the opposition at that position, Dwayne Allen also averages a very nice 14.5 yards per reception making him top 5 in that category amongst his full-time positional piers.

Result:  1 reception, 21 receiving yards, 1 TD - HIT

Miami Dolphins - ($5,400) - Over the past 6 games Miami is averaging 12.83 fantasy points per game, and has been one of the NFL's top overall defensive units thus far in 2014 (the Dolphins had a bye week already, so this encompasses their entire season). This Week 8 intra-state matchup versus the offensively challenged Jaguars shouldn't be too tough of a game for the NFL's 11th highest scoring defense. Couple that with the fact that Jacksonville allows the most fantasy points per game to opposing defenses and we have ourselves the #1 DFS play Week 8.

Result: 4 sacks, 1 fumble recovered, 2 interceptions, 2 return touchdowns, 1 blocked kick - BULLSEYE
