BALLER MOVE: Start in 12+ Team Leagues
POSITIONAL VALUE: Volume-based WR3/FLEX
ANALYSIS: Cleveland Browns wide receiver Elijah Moore entered 2023 with significant optimism and upside. After an offseason trade that sent him from New York to Cleveland, Moore was ready for a fresh start and had an opportunity to emerge as the Browns' No. 2 wide receiver.
While Moore did assert himself as the Browns' next-best wide receiver option behind Amari Cooper, he produced inconsistent results over the first half of the season. Over his first eight games, he averaged just 3.6 receptions and 33.8 receiving yards, all while failing to find the end zone. His role has increased since then, commanding 35 targets over the last four weeks.
Last week, Moore tied his previous career-high in targets with 12. He benefited from catching passes from Joe Flacco, who was his quarterback for parts of seven games in New York.
There's also the matter of air yards, of which Moore amassed 255 last Sunday. Not only are the Browns looking to get the ball into his hands, but they're doing so downfield. He has a legitimate big-play upside in his current role.
Furthermore, Moore stands to benefit from an even larger workload in Week 14. Amari Cooper (head) entered concussion protocol last Sunday and is not expected to play in this week's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, leaving Moore in line to operate as the Browns' de facto No. 1 receiver.
Moore's matchup against the Jaguars is quite favorable. Jacksonville has surrendered 170 yards, 1.2 touchdowns, and 23.2 fantasy points per game to wide receivers this season, and their defense could be on the field even more often next Sunday if C.J. Beathard starts in place of the injured Trevor Lawrence (ankle). All in all, everything is falling into place for Moore to have a real impact in Week 14.
